Yesterday I wrote a blog entitled “Realtor offers 5% commission, feels our offer is too low to compensate!”


Many of the comments we received questioned why i would be upset because the Sellers agent was attempting to reduce our commission from 5%-3% due to the fact that our offer was too low! Some used the logic that as a Discount Broker I shouldn’t complain! Others felt that it serves us right. One person sent us an email calling all Discount Brokers the Anti-Christ of our profession.



There truly seems to be a distorted logic of what we do.


For the record we`re a “Full Service Discount Broker” which simply means that we as the “Listing Agent take a reduced commission” for selling listing

a home. We do however insure that Buyers Agent receive a full commission! Simply put our listings on the MLS offer agents a commission that range from 3-4%!


In some cases that`s far better than what a “Full Service” company may offer. How many times have you seen a “Full Service Realtor” offer a 2-2.5%, commission on the MLS? Can you explain why there seems to be “Two sets of rules?” More important how come you don’t question why?


The mere fact that we`re taking a reduced commission has little or no bearing on how we perform,albeit some companies are different than others,just like many who practice “Real Estate”.

Our agents are taught not to bother other agents for directions to listings, ask questions like ” Can you tell us how to open a lock box, or call agents for showing instructions when it clearly states to call the Listing Office”.
